Classification of epoxy resin composites

There are many varieties of epoxy resin composite materials (referred to as epoxy composite materials, or epoxy reinforced plastics), no matter their names, meanings or classification methods have not been completely unified, but generally speaking, they can be classified according to the following three methods:< br/>
(1) According to the application, it can be divided into epoxy structural composite materials, epoxy functional composite materials and epoxy functional structural composite materials. Structural composite material is composed of the mechanical properties of the material, so that it can be used as a stressed structural material, and can be designed and manufactured according to the stress situation to achieve the best state of material performance. Functional composite materials are composed of other properties of the material (such as light, electricity, heat, corrosion resistance, etc.) to obtain materials with a certain desired function. For example, epoxy resin copper clad laminate, epoxy resin electronic molding compound, epoxy resin board, mold heat insulation board (main component contains epoxy resin), etc. It should be pointed out that no matter what kind of functionality of the material is used, it must have the necessary mechanical properties, otherwise the best functional material will not be practical.

(2) According to the molding pressure, it can be divided into high pressure molding materials (molding pressure 5-30MPa), such as epoxy engineering plastics and epoxy laminated plastics; low pressure molding materials (molding pressure < 2.5MPa), such as epoxy glass fiber reinforced plastic and high performance Epoxy composite. FRP and high-performance composite materials are not suitable for high pressure forming due to the large size of the parts (up to several square meters) and the surface is usually not flat. Otherwise, the cost of the mold is too high, the tonnage of the press is too large, and the cost is too expensive.

(3) According to comprehensive factors (including material properties, molding methods, and application fields, etc.), it can be divided into: epoxy resin engineering plastics, epoxy resin laminated plastics, epoxy resin glass fiber reinforced plastics (universal epoxy resin composite materials) and epoxy resin structural composites.
